Gerald Mulvain was a 17 year old boy when he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Gerald was in the invasion of Leyte Island during the war. After Leyte, Gerald spent the remainder of his time in the service on the island of Guam, training and playing baseball along with other activities. Gerald served in a 155 millimeter howitzer battery, a 50 caliber machine gunner, radio operator and cannoneer.
