This project is based upon a memoir written by the late George Brauer, who was a B-24 pilot during World War II. He was a member of the 392nd Bomb Group, 14th Combat Wing, 2nd Air Division, of the 8th Air Force and flew out of Wendling, England. He completed 29 missions over France and Germany, including Kiel, Frankfurt, Gotha, Friedrichshaven, Cuxhaven, Leige, and Belgium. Upon completing his 29 missions, he was returned stateside to train other B-24 and eventually B-29 pilots before the war ended. Mr. Brauer received the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal.
