William J. Charis served with the 87th Infantry Division. This division was assigned to General George S. Patton's 3rd Army. Mr. Charis served in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge. His war came to an end after being wounded and losing his left thumb.
