Lt. Colonel Richard Anshus served in Vietnam as a Platoon Leader, Company Commander, and a Battalion Operations Officer with the Americal Division before being shot down on March 8, 1971. He was held as a prisoner of war in northern Vietnam in multiple camps such as the Zoo, Plantation Gardens, and at the Hanoi Hilton where he spent the majority of his time in captivity.
