John Bollwerk served in the 23rd Tactical Air Support Squad and 46th Bomb SQ during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Nakhom Phanom Royal Thai Air base and Vtapo Royal Thai Air Base. He was a forward air controller, patrolling the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos from 1967 - 1968. In 1970 he was a b-52 aircraft commander. Blowers is the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross with two oak leaf clusters, air medal with two silver and four bronze oak leaf clusters, the Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
