Joseph Smothers was drafted into the Army during WWII. Joseph reached the rank of Technician Four with Company B, 409th Infantry Regiment, 103rd infantry Regiment. His service time was spent in the European Theatre - Alsace, France; Rhineland, Germany; Austria; and Italy. Joseph was one of the fortunate soldiers to have survived the Battle of Ardennes. This interview was conducted by students and staff of Carlyle Junior High School.
